Have you been told you’re special?  Have you been told you’re not?  That is the irony of the world we live in.

Many of us grow up thinking that we are somehow special. This can be affirmed through many kind words. But many of us can also grow up feeling we are not special. In fact, this is also reaffirmed by many cruel words.

So are we special or not?  Is Gods love for us unique or is it just the same for everyone?

I’ve heard it said before that if everyone is special, then special is normal. Therefore no one is special.  While this seems logical, we may want to put on a pair of God’s eyes to look at ourselves.

Worldly Wisdom.

The worlds wisdom is foolishness to God, so the Bible says (1 Cor. 3:19) I’m going to believe that. But what do we do then? Do we give up on this issue, or do we press into it?

Let’s put a pin in this for a moment. We will get back to it shortly.

STAR WARS

Who has seen it?  You don’t need to comment unless you haven’t.  Then we might just give you a stern look.  A look as if you should go out and see it today.  Anywho, even if you haven’t seen it, there are some great characters in it.  But these characters are strange.  It’s not often we see into their personal side.

Enter, the Storm Trooper.

Once and a while, you get to see behind their mask.  The movie makers reveal a little bit of who they are.  From the outside, they are not unique whatsoever.  In fact, they are made to be exactly the same as each other.  But when their helmet or mask is removed, you get to see that they are unique after all.

Just like in Star Wars, but in real life, when you take off your mask, we can see how God created you to be unique.

First Step

The first step to discovering how you are unique is to take off your mask.  Stop pretending to be someone you are not for others affirmation.  This is huge, but unless you are willing to be you for God instead of being you simply for others opinions, the task to find your uniqueness will be buried in guilt.  I don’t want that for you.

So today, show God who you are.  He already knows, but admit something to Him that you would rather not. The honesty you give will reap a great big smile from Jesus.  Then, you will know that the journey is worth it.

Let me know how it goes. 🙂
