How dare I ask that question. It seems completely inappropriate to ask such a question of God.
God doesn’t have to do anything that He doesn’t want to. Or does He?
Wow. I tend to ask questions that could seem inappropriate to ask for a Christian. I was always taught not to ask such questions. “Never ask God why!” I was told through my life. As if He couldn’t take it. At times I didn’t know if I was supposed to avoid those questions out of love for God, or simply fear of going to Hell.
Even churches seem to tell us not to question God. And I agree with it to a point, but not the way we teach it.
I remember one point in my faith where I got deep with God in a hurry. I told Him that I disagreed with Him, and that I thought He was wrong. But then I followed the statement by saying, but we’ve been here before, and You were right.
God is faithful to us. He loves us asking hard questions. It’s His pleasure to help us understand the hard answers.
So I ask again, Why should God love you? Does He have to?
Did you know that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Rom 10:9) That means that this is a contract that God offers you. He has told you the terms of the deal. If you do it, you are saved. If you are saved, then God must look at you differently. He joyfully agreed to it. He is bound to it by His own love for you.
So then, in light of this, I ask again… Why should God love you? If you have given Him your life, then now is the time to claim that birthright. Don’t let misguided christians tell you that you are ONLY a sinner saved by grace. Yes you were, but now you are a child of God, forgiven, made free, made clean. When you sin now, it’s not simply from your evil nature, but from bad habits.
Let God continue to change your heart and habits, but be free.
You see, the world doesn’t like you because of the freedom you now have. Grace is a disaster to the world. They don’t like it. In fact, we struggle with it at first too. We feel that we somehow are evil people because of our hearts, but God has set us free from that shame.
When God looks at you, if you have asked Him to be your Lord, then He no longer sees you in the light of sin, but sees you through Jesus’ actions and heart. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Cor 5:21)
We are made right. We are purified.
so I ask again,
Why should God love you? Because He sees Jesus in you. How could He not love Jesus?
I’m not saying this all to make you think that you are entitled to God’s love because you are better than other people in this world. I’m saying this to you to put Satan and his shame back in Hell.
If you have shame because of something you did, or something someone said, then in light of 2 Cor. 5:21, I simply declare you free. Receive it. And I send that shame back to the Hell that it came from.
I know that this is not my normal way of writing a blog, but I needed to preach a little. Because if we can’t be freed from the spiritual bondage we have, then our identity development will go nowhere. You are a spiritual person, so we needed to hit this.
Guys, I love you. You are made in God’s image. More and more as I look at you, I’m seeing you through Jesus. You are amazing. You are worth dying for.
So final time. Why Should God Love You?
Repeat after me… I’m His child and He has made me righteous through Jesus. I am now clean. I am now pure. Jesus help me to live this way everyday. See me through the love of Jesus.
What if this is not you? Perhaps today, you have stumbled across this blog. It was not your intention to read this specifically at this point in your journey. Well, I believe that God put this blog here, and you on your screen, right now, to see how He wants you to see yourself.
I want to tell you good news. God made you in His own image. You are not an accident. You are a masterpiece. God is so pleased with you. Jesus Himself loves you so much that He gave up all the privilege of being God, to show you how much He loves you.
The Bible says “taste and see that the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8. So today, I invite you to give Him a taste. Simple say “Jesus, I want to taste and see that You are good like the Bible says you are.” Then let Him start to bring you new life. You don’t have to live alone anymore. He tastes so good. You don’t have to follow all the rules that you have heard Christians have to follow. Just taste and see that He is good and he will give you everything He has for you. Then following Him becomes the most awesome way to live.
If you do taste and see that the Lord is good, and if you want a fresh helping of how good He is, let me know in the comments below or email me brad@theschoolofidentity.com. I want to pray for you.
Together, we are the body of Christ, and through Him, we are made perfect and completely lovable. God Loves You so much. Enjoy it. 😃
Amen!
